What your consultation looks like

For women the first question is usually medical rather than surgical: is the shedding caused by something treatable, and is it stable? Once that is settled, the examination establishes whether the donor area is dense enough to give without leaving a visible gap. If a transplant is appropriate, planning covers how much of your hair needs to be shortened and what can be done without a full shave, which for most female patients is the part that decides the timing.

FUE, DHI and Sapphire: how the technique is chosen

All three techniques used at HairX move individual follicular units from the donor area at the back and sides of the head to the areas that have thinned. They differ in how the grafts are placed. In FUE, the grafts are extracted one by one and placed into small channels that are opened beforehand. In DHI, each graft is loaded into an implanter pen and placed directly, so extraction and implantation are closer together and the surrounding hair can often be kept longer. In the Sapphire method, the channels are opened with sapphire blades, which allows a finer incision and closer placement where density is the priority.

For Dr. Ayman’s patients the technique question is usually inseparable from the shaving question. Because DHI places each graft directly with an implanter, it is often the route that allows the surrounding hair to be kept long, which is what makes a no-shave or partial-shave plan possible for many women. Where a full shave is acceptable, or where the case is a hairline lowering or an eyebrow transplant, FUE or Sapphire may be proposed instead.
